Off The Fence - Women at Risk

The Women at Risk Project
The Women at Risk Project provides advice, counselling and support services to vulnerable women in Brighton and Hove. Many have been victims of the sex industry; many are in abusive or broken relationships; many are suffering from financial problems. We support them through difficult situations and empower them to make changes in their lives.

Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers visit women in their homes or in public places and offer a range of practical, personal and emotional support as appropriate. We are seeing this demand grow, however, as more and more health centres and general practitioners realise that the specialist long term help that we offer is not generally available through the statutory agencies.

Some women come to us who are already involved with agencies such as Social Services, drug support, and Mental Health services, but who are in need of emotional support. We provide a constant support in the short and long term.

Our successes have been many but perhaps the value of the Women at Risk project can best be demonstrated by a comment from a recent client:

“Every meeting I had with you helped me move forward. I learnt so much from your expertise and understanding, many examples which will remain with me forever. I cannot thank you enough” - Jane (named changed to keep for reasons of confidentiality)
